We met Mancs The Shimmering Suns and grabbed an interview with the band who are aiming to become the next indie sensation. This is what they had to say:

1) Who are The Shimmering Suns?

We're a four piece shoegaze band from Manchester, who try to add a bit more bite to the genre. We're Alex, Mike, Marty and Scott.

2) Favourite gig of which you've played?

We're actually going on tour in august for the first time. I can't tell you all the dates just yet but we're playing a really small Manchester venue with a really cool band called The Rusbies which should be a lot of fun, and doing an EP launch show at Sound Control

3) What can we expect from The Shimmering Suns in the future?

We have an EP out in August, which will be followed by as many dates as fragile bank accounts will allow. An album next year would be nice. Generally speaking though, real good vibes ~~

4) Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?

Broke. Touring. Happy

5) Who's on your usual playlist?

The Horrors are my favourite band of all time, at least a few songs from each of their records. I love The Velvet Underground, Bowie, Slowdive, Bob Dylan, Sonic Youth and Warpaint a lot too. We took our name from a TOY song, so I better mention them too. Oh and Younghusband are really cool. There's so many, I'm discovering new music daily at the moment - it's great!

6) Biggest inspirations for The Shimmering Suns?

We all have really different influences which I find really cool. Personally I'd say The Horrors, Warpaint, TOY, Slowdive, July, that kinda thing. Scott and Alex are more into their grunge and rock n roll, whereas Mike is a fan of blues and Oasis. I think having different influences stops us sounding generic, I'm really grateful for it to be honest.
