Possible Future Festival Headliners?

Posted on July 12, 2014 at 5:05 PM

RIFFED have created a possible main stage line-up for festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and T in The Park in the future. After much deliberation, this is how we expect main stage's at festivals to appear over the coming years.

HEADLINERS:

Royal Blood:

When we saw Royal Blood back in October of last year at the Fruit in Hull, we knew they were set for big things. It was a free gig, around 20 people rolled up, but the small crowd wasn't sniffed at by the Brighton rockers. After Ben snapping at least 10 drum sticks and the duo setting off two car alarms down the street, we knew this wasn't the last we'd hear of Royal Blood. And we was right, 9 months down the line and Mike and Ben were supporting Arctic Monkeys at their Finsbury Park dates earlier this year, which was soon followed by Glastonbury a few weeks back. With their self titled debut album 'Royal Blood' set to be released next month, expect Royal Blood to be headlining festivals in the near future. Don't be surprised to see them on the Pyramid at Glastonbury next year either.

Bombay Bicycle Club:

Bombay Bicycle Club are a band who've been on the scene for a few years now, forever progressing, albeit at a steady pace. After the recent release of their 4th studio album 'So Long, See You Tomorrow', earlier this year, the band now have a catalog of hits just waiting to be performed in a headlining set on the main stage of a festival any time now. Bombay are set to headline the NME Stage at Reading and Leeds this summer, following their slot on the Other Stage at Glastonbury last month, but we can see them topping this in years to come.

White Lies:

Harry McVeigh, Jack Lawrence-Brown and Charles Cave have a busy summer of festivals ahead of them, along with a few headline slots also. Though they be small, White Lies are no 'Strangers' to the big stage, if you'd pardon the pun, after recently performing at Glastonbury and appearing at Reading and Leeds amongst others over previous years, we feel as though White Lies are ready to take the next step.

OTHER MAIN STAGE ACTS:

The Horrors:

The Horrors are a band who ever since exploding onto the scene have been on the rise, performing at festivals has become the norm for the Essex band. Since adding 'Luminous' to their ever-growing discography, The Horrors have bulked up their setlist of which is ready for the main stage.

Dan Croll:

Dan Croll will be an unfamiliar name to many. But the solo artist is not one to be dismissed, his debut album 'Sweet Dissary' has propelled him to lofty slots on many festival line-ups, as well supporting acts such as London Grammar on their recent UK tour.

Circa Waves:

Circa Waves are a band yet to appear high up on festival line-ups, but this won't be the case for too much longer. Coinciding with the release of their debut single 'Young Chasers', they were announced as part of the line-up for the NME Awards Tour earlier this year, alongside Interpol, Temples and Royal Blood.

Wolf Alice:

Fronted by Ellie Rowsell, Wolf Alice are a band of which the hype is high for. Their powerful indie prescence has attracted many punters, performing at Glastonbury earlier this year and Reading and Leeds to come, Wolf Alice are undoubtedly on the rise and there's no end in sight.

Temples:

After appearing on the NME Awards Tour and releasing their debut album 'Sun Structures', Temples are vastly projecting themselves. Most recently feauturing on Strongbows new television ad, and appearing at Glastonbury, their name is starting to become a popular one.

Catfish and the Bottlemen:

Welsh rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen are a band of which has exploded on to the scene of late. Having just signed for Island Records and announcing their debut album 'The Balcony', the Bottlemen are racing up the musical ladder. RIFFED were lucky enough to catch Catfish and the Bottlemen at the Fruit in Hull earlier this week, and it's clear to see Catfish won't be falling down the musical ladder anytime soon. The main stages are beckoning.

Spector:

With their second album in the pipeline, the future is looking bright for Fred Macpherson and the band. It's been 2 years since the release of their debut album 'Enjoy It While It Lasts', yet we're still well and truly enjoying it today. Spector are everything you need at a festival, brilliant vibrancy and stage prescence, and every track is an anthem. If their second album is to be as good as their first, the main stages won't be too far out of reach for Spector.

Coves:

Leamington Spa duo Coves have recently released their debut album 'Soft Friday', which earned themselves plenty of plaudits. Having just returned from Glastonbury, Coves are in for a quiet festival season this summer. But expect them to be on the bill for many many more come this time next year.

Peace:

Indie quartet Peace are a band who's fanbase is forever growing. After a busy summer of festivals last year, following the release of their debut album 'In Love', Harrison Koisser and the band are set for another jam packed festival season. Performing on the main stage at Reading and Leeds next month, expect them to climb higher on the bill come next year.

The Family Rain:

Bath triplets The Family Rain are yet to perform at many festivals and aren't in for a busy festival season this summer either. But their debut album 'Under The Volcano' went down a storm following it's release and with new material in the pipeline, of which they told us about in our previous interview, expect The Family Rain to not only be on the line-up for festivals, but be fairly high up by this time next year.

Drenge:

Sheffield duo Drenge are a band who've propelled themselves of late. Following the release of their self titled debut album, Eoin and Rory have been performing at plenty of festivals, of which Glastonbury being the most recent, and have a busy summer of festivals ahead of them. But expect them also to be climbing the bill in years to come, although as they told us in their recent interview with us, they don't plan to top fellow Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys.

Jaws:

Birmingham band Jaws have recently been encountering a rise in popularity, following the announcment of their debut album 'Be Slowly', the indie quartet have been recieving plenty of airplay of the album title track on BBC Radio 1 of late. It won't be long till Jaws catch up with fellow Birmingham band Peace on the main stage at Reading and Leeds as well as others. Although drummer Eddy Geach told us in his previous interview that he's just planning to get a job at his local KFC for now.
