3 Of The Most Over-Hyped Artists In The Industry
| Posted on July 27, 2014 at 3:55 PM |
In the music industry today there are plenty of artists who really don't live up to the hype of which is surrounding them. Somehow, we've managed to narrow them down and establish who the top three most over-hyped artists are.
3 Swim Deep / Peace
We may have stated that this list specifies only the top 3 most over-hyped artists, but we really couldn't chose between Swim Deep and Peace. Both bands hail from Birmingham and each stormed onto the scene just over a year ago. Swim Deep with the tracks 'Honey' and 'King City' and Peace with their highly acclaimed 'Delicious' EP. Admittedly, we loved them at the time and still do, each being an expolosion of vibrancy and life, of which soon began to fade away when each released their debut albums around this time last year. Peace's being 'In Love' and 'Where The Heaven Are We' being Swim Deep's, were each released with so much expectancy, of which they both failed to live up to. Peace followed 'In Love' with their latest track 'Money' recently, of which is another poor effort from the indie band, in which lead singer Harrison Koisser even wraps... Swim Deep, on the other hand have been pretty quiet since the release of their album, maybe they've started work on a masterpiece, or maybe they've just given up. Either way, both Birmingham bands seem to be on the decline since their explosive entrances.

2 Lana Del Rey
She may have had a storming career so far, becoming a common name within the industry. But is Lana Del Rey really as good as people say? We think not. After watching her set on the Pyramid at Glastonbury last month, we wonder as to how she even made it to Glastonbury let alone the Pyramid. A lifeless and emotionless performance, it was as if she'd rather be somewhere else. Having just released her latest album, 'Ultraviolence', the Lana hype is high, but we struggle to understand as to why. Lana Del Rey is nothing more than a boring, dull and depressing artist.

1 Bastille
We don't think there's a band we despise more than Bastille. They're nothing more than a pop band that plays their own instruments. After bursting onto the scene with the track 'Pompeii', Bastille were dubbed the next big thing, but we never understood the hype. A four minute track that must incorparate three minutes of lead singer Dan Smith chanting 'Eh eh oh eh oh eh eh oh eh oh". After releasing their debut album 'Bad Blood' in March of last year, Bastille went on to play a series of festivals last summer, but this year the Londoners are to play none. Maybe they're working on new material, or maybe festival organisers have realised they're not quite the band they were hyped up to be.
